TWO teenagers had a lucky escape when they slipped down a grassy cliff face and onto a ledge, narrowly avoiding a 30ft drop onto rocks below.
The pair, a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, came to the attention of the emergency services shortly before 5pm last night at a place near Berwick, known as Sharpers Head.
Within minutes of the alarm being raised, a local police officer, reported to be a PC Barcham, was able to climb down to where the teenagers were and provide reassurance.
A dog handler, PC Ashley, then arrived on the scene and lowered down a tracking lead to the 15-year-old to provide support.
Fire brigade, ambulance and coastguard were called to the area and the pair were eventually lowered to the beach with the aid of a fire ladder.
