PEOPLE are being offered the chance to help build an extension for a college devoted to students with visual impairments, physical disabilities and learning difficulties.
Henshaws College, Harrogate, the only one of its kind in the North, has launched a £1m Buy a Brick campaign to fund the building of accommodation for students.
The appeal will provide adapted and spacious living quarters for 22 students and will replace accommodation built in the Seventies.
Construction is under way and the campaign is looking to build on the support of local companies, schools, partners and individuals.
The new accommodation will offer training kitchens and communal living areas and will give students the chance to practise skills such as food preparation.
The appeal is the second phase of the college's Living Life campaign.
The earlier phase resulted in improved teaching facilities, living accommodation for 18 students and a reception area.
Principal Caroline Smale said: "We are now seeking help with the final, and vital, push."
