A COUNTY Durham council is looking for rubbish ideas in a bid to crack down on litter problems.
Resident in the Easington District Council area are being asked for their suggestions as part of the authority's Food on the Go campaign.
The council is particularly keen for people to nominate possible locations for new dog fouling measures and waste bins.
Ian Hoult, environmental services manager, said: "The Food on the Go campaign is all about disposing of your waste responsibly, which, of course, includes putting rubbish in a bin.
"Some people, however, may feel this isn't possible because they think there aren't enough bins in a particular area.
"That's why we are asking them to get in touch and tell us where they believe there is a need for more bins.''
A recent survey of more than 200 residents in the district revealed that 76 per cent believed there were not enough bins in their area.
In response, the district council has already installed 85 extra bins this year, with 138 more to be placed in the coming months.
"We've already replaced a number of bins this year and installed additional ones - but we will consider any reasonable request for new ones,'' said Mr Hoult. "There is no excuse for littering. It is a blight on neighbourhoods and we are looking to eradicate it.''
Residents are also being asked to identify potential sites for signs warning of the penalties for fly-tipping, dog fouling and littering.
Anyone who would like to suggest a location for a new bin can call 0191-527-5040.
