THE death of a 36-year-old woman whose body was found at a hotel is being treated as ‘unexplained’.
Officers were called to Derwent Manor Hotel, at Allensford, near Consett, shortly after 5am on Sunday.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Police received a report from the ambulance service at about 5.15am on Sunday, reporting the death of a woman outside the Derwent Manor Hotel in Allensford.
“The death is being treated as unexplained at this time but there is believed to be no third party involvement.”
The hotel is a popular wedding venue and it is thought there was an event there on Sunday with guests witnessing police activity in the grounds.
The police spokesman added: “A report is being prepared for the coroner.”
