FUNDRAISERS are getting ready to stage a Last Night of the Proms concert to raise money for research into cancer.
Fishburn Brass Band will be joining the celebrations at Spennymoor Town Hall, at 7.30pm, on Saturday, in an event organised by Cancer Research UK's Neville's Cross Group of Friends.
Doors open at 7pm and there will be a raffle and bar.
Lindsay Kay, Cancer Research UK community fundraiser, said: "We are delighted that our fundraisers in Neville's Cross are holding this fantastic event again this year.
"A huge thank you to Fishburn Brass Band for providing their wonderful entertainment free of charge. This will be a most enjoyable evening and buying a ticket to attend the concert is a great way to help fund research into a disease which affects one in three people."
Cancer Research UK spends more than £2m on a range of research projects at Newcastle University, including research into new and more effective treatments, research into inherited forms of cancer and clinical trials at hospitals in the North-East.
Tickets cost £5 and are available by calling 0191-384-4731 or 01388-817589 and also at the door.
