A MAN has been rescued after being found unconscious by firefighters in a flat on Teesside.
A neighbour in the flats in Dorman Gardens, Middlesbrough, heard the man's smoke detector activate and raised the alarm.
Firefighters broke into the ground floor flat where they found a man in his 20s, unconscious, on Tuesday night. He was taken by ambulance to hospital.
The smoke alarm had been triggered by a food pan left unattended on a cooker in the flat.
There was no fire damage to the kitchen or the rest of the premises. The man was not unconscious as a result of the smoke. Cleveland Police were informed.
