DRIVERS are thousands of pounds out of pocket after a tyre slashing spree in two North-East towns.

Twelve cars were targeted in the Crook and Willington area on Monday night and police believe other owners could come forward.

All the attacks happened between 9pm and midnight.

The trail of damage started in Gladstone Street, Crook and continued along the A689 through Wheatbottom, Helmington Row and West Road, Willington, finishing in Railway Terrace where the owner of a Mitsubishi Shogun was left with a 180 bill.
