A MAN'S body was recovered from River Tees at Middlesbrough today.
The body was found floating face down in the dock at Middlehaven - the centre of multi-million pound flagship housing, commercial and leisure redevelopment.
Few details have emerged, but security guards reported seeing a car being driven erratically.
The car was seen to drive forward, then reverse, drive away and then return to the scene, the site of Middlesbrough's former docks.
Police officers arrived 20 minutes later to find the car parked on the side of the basin and the driver in the dock.
The dead man was from Middlesbrough, but his identity has not been released. Police are satisfied there was nothing suspicious about the death.
