A PROLIFIC thief has been jailed for a string of offences.
Jonathon Banks was caught on CCTV breaking into homes and vehicles in the Middridge, Shildon and Spennymoor area on the night of December 11 and subsequently identified by officers from Shildon neighbourhood team.
The 27-year-old, of Weardale Walk, in Shildon, pleaded guilty to six offences of burglary and theft at Peterlee Magistrates Court on Saturday and was sentenced to 52 weeks in prison.
Det Con Phil Collingwood, of Bishop Auckland CID, said: “We are very pleased with Bank’s sentence as he is a prolific thief who, had he not been arrested, would undoubtedly have continued to steal from people’s homes and vehicles.
"I would like to remind people to make sure all of your windows and doors are locked at all times, please also ensure that keys are not hidden under doormats– protect your property against thieves."
- Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Collingwood on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
