ONE of the region's oldest town fairs is gearing up for its annual event this month.
Yarm Fair will be in the town's High Street from Thursday, October 18 until Saturday, October 20.
The fair will be open from 6pm to midnight on the Thursday and Friday, and from 11am to midnight on Saturday.
The High Street will be closed to traffic between Bridge Street and Bentley Wynd at these times, with a temporary diversion route in operation.
It will also be closed from 5.30pm to 9pm on Tuesday, October 16 to allow the fair to set up.
Access to Silver Street and Sainsbury's car park will be available from Yarm Bridge on the Saturday afternoon.
Bus services will also be affected on the Saturday, and passengers are advised to call Arriva on 01642-604141 for details of re-routed or cancelled services.
Councillor Bob Cook, Stockton Council's cabinet member for regeneration and transport, said: "The annual Yarm Fair is very popular event, and road closures are put in place the for safety of visitors so they can fully enjoy the event."
