A student has been invited to join a masterclass this week.
Chris Jackson, from Bishop Barrington Sports with Mathematics College, Bishop Auckland, earned an invitation to Aim Higher at Durham University, on Thursday, after being named best male student of the week at a summer sports camp for year ten pupils from County Durham schools.
It is the second year running a Bishop Barrington student has received the award, which takes into account a range of abilities, including leadership skills, performance and development.
Chris, who is now in year 11, said: "I didn't expect to win the award.
"I am not very good at sport, but I am a good leader and I enjoy teaching others."
During the week, he took part in a team-building exercise to build a shelter, orienteering, sports leadership, canoeing, and mountain biking in Hamsterley Forest.
