A SCHOOL is celebrating a cash windfall that should help pupils improve its sporting achievement.
The Friends of Great Ouseburn Primary School, near Boroughbridge, have secured a grant of £2,232 from the Football Foundation. The school does not have its own playing field or sports hall, but the money will allow all 65 pupils access to facilites and professional coaching at least once a week.
Vale of York Tory MP Anne McIntosh said: "This a thoroughly deserved reward for the Friends and the PTA group for all their hard work. The grant will be used towards training courses, coach hire, facility hire and first aid kits.
"The Football Foundation aims to revitalise the grassroots of the game, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country."
