ONE of the region's most popular museums has been looking back to the early days of Scouting.
Beamish Museum, near Stanley, County Durham, dedicates itself to the industrial heritage of the North-East, particularly from the late 19th Century into the early 20th Century.
It hosted a three-day exhibition by Durham Scout County to mark the centenary of the movement's founding by Lord Baden-Powell.
The display, which was open on Friday, Saturday and yesterday, included uniforms, memorabilia, reports and photographs from down the years and video footage from Scouting events in more recent times.
Former Scouts manned the display to recount their memories to visitors to the exhibition.
The regional resource centre at the museum is where Durham Scout County is storing some of its collection.
