FESTIVE fireworks filled the skies above Darlington and signalled the beginning of the town’s Christmas celebrations.
Thousands of people gathered in the chilly November evening as the community ushered in the festivities.
The crowds enjoyed a evening of entertainment, which included a lively performance from Hartlepool duo, LIV’n’G, aka sisters Olivia Crawford and Georgia Fletcher.
TFM Radio presenters Steve and Karen welcomed Santa and his helpers back to the town before Darlington’s Christmas light were set to sparkle.
Throughout the evening, shoppers enjoyed perusing stalls at a festive market and in town centre businesses, which opened until 8pm as the annual late night Thursday shopping season began.
The event marks the beginning of the town’s Christmas celebrations, which will see visitors able to enjoy the festive market, entertainment, shopping and parking offers. The market is open 10am to 4pm until Sunday.
