ORGANISERS have sold 30 per cent more tickets than usual for the popular Masham Arts Festival.

The festival runs in the town from October 19 to 27, with many attractions, including arts, music and cookery.

Ian Scott Massie, who organised the event's calendar, said: "I think one reason this festival seems set to be an even bigger success than ever before is because we have such a terrific line-up of sponsors on board, enabling us to bring well-known names.

"The workshops always sell well because they are a great chance for people to try new activities like print-making and song-writing.

"We are also pleasantly surprised by the interest shown in our two themed days -the Lewis Carroll and Indian days.

"The Lewis Carroll day is intended mainly for children, with fun events like a Mad Hatter's Tea Party.

"It is not often you get to see saris, make samosas and play sitars in Masham, so the Indian Day will be something really different."

Tickets for events cost £3 to £10, with events at various venues.
