A DRUG ADDICTED burglar who targeted commercial premises to fund his habit has been jailed.
Stuart Collins pleaded guilty to two burglaries when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court yesterday.
The 27-year-old, of Grange Road, Middlesbrough, broke through the skylight of a Greggs store. He escaped empty-handed, but caused £2,500 worth of damage to the town centre store.
He also struck at Barratts shoe shop, using the same method of entry. This time he stole an undisclosed amount of shoes.
Collins, who pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary, was caught on security cameras.
Jailing Collins for 18 months concurrent for each charge, Judge John Walford said: "You are only 27, but you have a terrible record. It is clear that the reason for your offending is your drug abuse. Until you get that under control, it seems to me there is a substantial risk that you will go on offending as you have in the past."
