A SINGER is planning a concert to thank a charity that has supported him since childhood.
X factor contestant Martin Quigley was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 11.
The 23-year-old Neil Diamond fan will sing Diamond's songs and other classic hits at the Queens Social Club, in Queens Avenue, Thornaby, near Stockton, on Thursday to help raise funds for Diabetes UK.
It is the second time the transport manager, from Thornaby, has sung in concert for the charity. He raised £2,300 for Diabetes UK last year, and hopes his second concert will be more successful.
Mr Quigley, who won through three preliminary rounds of the current television talent show, said: "I wanted to hold another event as I think Diabetes UK is a really worthy cause.
"The charity has been extremely supportive to me since I was diagnosed, helping me understand the treatment involved and how to live with the condition. I want to give something back.
"It should be a great night and it is all for a good cause."
Diabetes UK funds research, campaigns and helps people to live with the condition.
Tickets for the concert are £2, and doors will open at 7.30pm.
