TWO women from the North-East are on the guest list for the Women of the Year Lunch.
Food scientist Professor Janet Bainbridge and community campaigner June Goodchild are among 450 women invited to this year's event at the InterContinental Hotel, in London's Park Lane, next month.
Prof Bainbridge, from Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, is chairwoman of the British Potato Industry and an internationally acclaimed agricultural scientist.
Ms Goodchild works tirelessly to improve Middlesbrough's Easterside Estate, raising money and getting grants to transform the crime-hit area.
Women of the Year president, Joan Armatrading said: "Each and every woman who attends the Women of the Year Lunch does so because of their considerable achievements."
The professions of the Women of the Year range from the arts to the financial business world, media, medicine and politics.
