A SCHOOL praised for its international activities has launched a programme of events for the new term.
Belmont School Community Art College's efforts to take a global perspective was recognised during a recent Ofsted inspection.
The school held an international challenge day on Thursday, supported by the British Council, directed at forging internet connections with Bahrain, Baghdad and China.
Among the activities planned for year eight are a talk by Durham University students from Hong Kong and China, producing a DVD for schools in Bahrain and Baghdad, producing learning resources for Middle East pupils and learning about Muslim family life and culture.
Headteacher Judith Wikinson said: "I am so proud of what my students and staff are doing to make links with students and teachers across the world.
"Our international work allows our students once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to really make a global difference.
"It means the Belmont School Community Arts College is actively promoting a global agenda and ensuring every child matters locally and globally.
"It is in the forefront of our work.''
