YOUNGSTERS at a primary school turned back the clock yesterday to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
Pupils and staff at Redbrook Primary School, in Roseworth, Stockton, dressed in Fifties-style clothes for a party to mark the milestone.
The school had planned to hold an outdoor street party, but rain forced the event to be moved into the school hall.
The celebrations are particularly poignant as the school is due to close at the end of the summer term next year, when it will merge with Roseworth Primary School in a new building.
Redbrook opened on October 3, 1957, and is planning a second celebration for all former pupils and staff at the school at 1.30pm on Friday, October 5.
While clearing out a cupboard, staff came across booklets recounting the opening of the school and lists of the original staff who worked there.
Headteacher Valerie Rudd said: "Parents are already putting feelers out to contact ex-pupils and ex-staff who actually still live in the local community, and already we have more than 150 contacts.
"It will be interesting to hear how life was in those days in the school in comparison to today."
Any former pupils or staff interested in attending the anniversary celebrations have been asked to call the school on 01642-675635.
