A MAP showing the proposed area of a drinking ban in Crook is available to view at the Civic Centre.
Outdoor drinking would be banned in the areas near Hope Street, North Road and Glenholme if the Designated Public Places Order is given the go-ahead by Wear Valley District Council.
It would mean police could order a person to stop drinking.
Failure to comply would result in a fine of up to £500.
The proposals will be discussed with councillors and licensees and, if the plans are accepted, the order is likely to come into force in next autumn.
The map is available for viewing between Mondays and Fridays, from 9am to 5pm.
