A TEENAGE girl was attacked by a man on her way home from college in Hartlepool.
The incident happened in Elwick Road, near Catcote Junction, on Wednesday, at 2pm.
A man attacked the 17-year-old from behind, placed his hand over her mouth and tried to pull her to the ground.
Police say the girl managed to wrestle free and the man ran off.
She was left shaken but escaped any serious injury.
The man is described as white, 5ft 10in, slim, with mousy- coloured hair.
He was about, 21, wearing a baseball-style cap and a light blue tracksuit top. He was also smoking a cigarette.
