ROTARIANS and supporters clocked up miles for local causes during their annual moorland charity hike.
More than 60 people took part in a choice of three walks in Glaisdale, on the North Yorkshire Moors, organised by the Rotary Club of Redcar.
The walks, which started from Leeholme, followed the route of Paddy Waddell's Railway, a 19th Century railway to serve Glaisdale's iron ore industry named after the Irish engineer hired to build it, but which was never finished because funding ran out.
The walks raised £1,500 which will be added to the club's charity fund.
The Rotary fund has already provided flower pots in Redcar High Street, given £4,500 to Redcar Children's Gym, £1,000 to the Redcar Coastguard Watch and paid for children visiting Redcar from Chernobyl to visit the Lightwater Valley theme park.
Redcar Rotary's president-elect Dave Tabner said: "Rotary is about fellowship and helping others and the charity walks achieved both."
