FOOTBALL fans will roll out the barrel in support of their team during a fundraising walk this week.
Bishop Auckland FC supporters are taking part in the four-mile journey from The Grand Hotel, in Holdforth Crest, Bishop Auckland, to the Ship Inn, in Middlestone Village, tomorrow.
They will push a firkin barrel - equivalent to 90 pints - of the Auckland Glory ale, brewed by the Wear Valley Brewery in honour of the team, which is one of the most successful amateur teams of all time.
The volunteers have secured sponsorship and hope to raise money for the club's new stadium fund, which stands at nearly £11,000.
David Strong, from the Bishop Auckland Independent Supporters' Association, said: "The beer has sold about 5,000 pints since it was launched last year."
The push starts from the Grand Hotel at 6pm, and the group hopes to arrive at the Ship Inn at about 8pm, where there will be a barbecue and beer - including Auckland Glory.
People interested in helping can join at the Grand Hotel before the group set off.
