ONE teenager died and another was left fighting for life after a horrific single-vehicle road smash near the Yorkshire coast.
Three others who were also in the car were all rushed to hospital after the smash - however their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The accident happened at about 11pm on Tuesday on Queen Margaret's Road, Scarborough, not far from the Oliver's Mount racetrack.
A silver Ford Focus left the road and travelled across a slight embankment before smashing into a tree.
An 18-year-old woman from the York area, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver, an 18-year-old man also from York, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary, where his condition was described as critical..
The other occupants, two other young men and a young woman, were taken to Scarborough Hospital.
The road was closed for more than six hours after the smash as accident investigators examined the scene.
