THE Killing of Sister George is to be staged by the Durham Dramatic Society from this weekend.
The play, by Frank Marcus and produced by Teresa Hagger, will open at the City Theatre, Fowlers Yard, Back Silver Street, Durham City.
Sister George is a fictional character in a popular radio serial about English village life.
To boost ratings, this character is to be killed off. Beryl Reid triumphed in both the stage and screen versions.
June Buckridge (Sister George) is played by Liz Cooke, Alice McNaught (Childie) is played by Sophia Albery, and Mrs Mercury Croft and Madame Xenia are Charlotte Bond and Kate Lawrie, respectively.
The play will be staged at 7.30pm, from Sunday to Saturday, September 29, with a matinee at 2.30pm on Sunday.
Tickets, costing £5.50, or £5 concessions, are available on Sunday and Monday from the box office, on 0191-384-7641.
