A FISHBURN couple are climbing the highest mountain in Africa to raise funds for disabled children.
Paul Burgess, 41, is a project manager for Crook Community Partnership and his wife, Tree Cole, 29, is a paediatrician at Newcastle General Hospital.
They are spending ten days next month in Tanzania with three friends and wanted to do something for charity during their stay.
Mount Kilimanjaro, which is 15,100ft, is on the Tanzanian side of the Kenyan border.
"We have never done anything like this before and just fancied a holiday with a difference," said Mr Burgess.
They are raising money for Dreamflight, a charity that sends seriously ill and disabled children on holidays to Florida.
"It is a great charity we are doing the climb for, so hopefully we can get as many people as possible sponsoring us," he said.
"I haven't done any training for the climb, yet, however."
