Police in Northallerton are appealing for information after a number of small gas canisters usually used in the catering industry, were found in the Broomfield Park area of the town.
These canisters are generally used for charging up whipped cream containers, however, there is evidence to suggest that they are being used by young people for the inhalation of the nitrous oxide gas contained within the canisters. This is extremely dangerous and can cause frost-bite to hands, lips, mouths, vocal cords and throat and can also lead to suffocation.
Three 15-yr-old youths from the Northallerton area have been arrested and released on bail in connection with the find.
Anyone who has any information relating to the use or supply of these canisters or anyone who has been offered them for sale or use is asked to call Northallerton police on 0845 60 60 24 7.
