Losing like that to South Africa was embarrassing and we have to put our hands up.

I feel sorry for the fans who came over at great expense to watch us and then get treated to that.

That's not taking anything away from the South Africans who have shown they are one of the favourites, but that wasn't acceptable from us.

Now we have to draw a line under it and go out this weekend and have a good result against Samoa who are also going to be gunning for a victory, having also been beaten by Tonga.

We know how physical Samoa are going to be and that's a challenge. Our game has to be broad and varied and we have to play with a bit more guile, but we have to match teams like Samoa physically to play that more expansive game.

We have trained well for the past two weeks but we haven't taken what we do into the games and now it's even more important that we implement it against Samoa and Tonga.

It obviously didn't go to plan the other night but we are not out of the tournament. Although we have lost one game and are very disappointed about that, if we win the remaining two games we qualify for the quarter-finals.

Losing Noony is a big blow and I really feel for him. To get injured at any time is bad but two games into a World Cup is really hard. He's obviously gutted to be going home but he'll be in good hands at Newcastle and I'm sure he'll be pleased to see Rachel and the kids.

I didn't manage to catch up with my cousin or my dad after the game but I have spoken to them on the phone.

My girlfriend came over for the match and it's been nice to see her over the last few days and spend a bit of time together.

We went into Paris on Sunday, had a walk round and did a bit of shopping. It was nice to get out and about and try and switch off.

We went to Place de la Concorde, where the big wheel or 'La Grande Roue' is, and had a look up the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triumphe. I've never been to this area of Paris before so it was a good thing to do for a few hours.

My girlfriend went home yesterday and although it's hard to say goodbye I have a job to do and we are used to spending time apart. We have to treat next week as fresh with a new game and I am just waiting to find out what's going to happen with selection.

We went out for a team social on Sunday evening to a local bar. It's a long time away from home and from our loved ones and it's important to keep the morale and spirits high.

But I'm sure that in the back of everyone's mind is what we have to do to win at the weekend.
