TWELVE students from Stockton Sixth Form College have completed a ten-week work placement on Spain's Costa Brava.

The students, who studied travel and tourism, geography and languages at the college, worked in a variety of jobs in hotels in Santa Susanna, Tossa Del Mar, Calella and Lloret del Mar.

The ten girls and two boys said the experience was fantastic.

They said they had made friends from all over Europe, learnt some Spanish and had grown up a lot.

Soraya Hassanzadeh, Mark Jones, Jennifer McKie, Rachael McLean, Scott Britton, Claire Wilkes, Helen Robson, Amy Ralph, Rachel Horobin, Linzi Ewen, Joanne Brown and Sasha Fanthome had all been offered full-time jobs at their hotels.

Martin Clinton, the principal at Stockton Sixth Form College, said: "It is a great opportunity for our students to sample the experience of living and working in another country.

"They can develop their language skills while also gaining a working knowledge of the hospitality industry. It is a compelling way to bring their studies off the page."
