A POPPY badge designed for Spennymoor to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War has proved so popular a second order has been placed to keep up with demand.

The Spennymoor Centenary Poppy pin was commissioned by TA Plastics, based on Tudhoe Industrial Estate, to support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

John Humphreys, managing director of the firm, which has created special badges for previous appeals, said: “From the minute the Poppy pin badges were available to sell we were inundated with requests for them. This year’s Poppy pin has been extremely popular, so much so, we decided to order a second batch of 200.

"On behalf of TA Plastics I would like to give a massive thank you to the townsfolk of Spennymoor for supporting such a worthy cause and making this year’s pin badge our most successful one to date.”

The badge has not only been a hit with people in the town but Spennymoor expats in America, Australia and Canada will wear theirs with pride this year.
