POLICE have seized drugs worth more than £30,000 after searching a car following a routine stop.
Uniform officers on patrol in the West Denton area of Newcastle saw a Honda CRV car being driven along West Denton Way at 1.30pm on Sunday.
Officers stopped the car as part of their routine policing duties, spoke to the occupants and searched the vehicle. They found what is believed to be 12 kg of base amphetamine sulphate.
Three people have been arrested in connection with this matter - a 41-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth are all helping police with their inquiries.
Inspector Charlie Munro said: "This shows the importance of carrying out routine policing in our neighbourhoods and the value of a visible police presence on our streets."
