A NORTH Yorkshire nurse has travelled to Asia for a two-week military training exercise.
Chris Churchill, 48, from Richmond, is the commanding officer of 251 Medical Squadron, 225 General Support Medical Regiment.
The Territorial Army unit flew to Georgia, in Central Asia, this month to train alongside the Georgian Army.
More than 140 Territorial Army (TA) soldiers from squadrons in Sunderland, Dundee and Glenrothes, Scotland, took part in the exercise.
In his day job, the father-of-three is a community nurse at Leyburn Health Centre.
He joined the TA four years ago after he spent 24 years in the regular Army as a combat medical technician.
Major Churchill said: "This has been my first overseas exercise with the TA.
"I joined to maintain my Army connections and to enhance my leadership and management skills, which help in my civilian working environment."
