A GOLF tournament has raised more than £1,000 for charity.
The City of Durham Lions Club competition, held at Houghton-le-Spring golf club, attracted more than 100 entries.
Half of the money raised will be split between Waterhouses Age Concern and Ushaw Moor Age Concern, to fund Christmas parties for elderly residents.
The remainder will go to other local causes, including St Cuthbert's Hospice, in Durham City.
Keith Vear, from the Lions Club, said: "I'm grateful to all the players, the sponsors and the club for allowing us to use the course.
"We had good weather and it was an excellent day."
The competition's winning pair was J Ramshaw and S Thomson.
Second was I McIntosh and P Grey. Third was F Etherington and T Johnson.
The longest drive was hit by R Roper.
A Cunningham was nearest the pin on the third hole, with S Moss going closest on the 15th.
The putting contest was won by C Scanlon.
