A CHARITY devoted to reducing crime and enhancing the quality of life has been given a financial boost from the world of football.
North Yorkshire's Crimebeat charity has received £2,000 from the Premier Football League as part of its community programme Creating Chances.
Crimebeat is one of 20 charities selected by Middlesbrough FC in the Places for Players initiative.
Places for Players is the core element of the Creating Chances programme, which involves 200 Premier League players supporting charities and good causes during this month.
National Crimebeat is the charity of the Shrievalty Association which works closely with young people with the aim to reduce crime, the causes of crime and enhance the quality of life within their communities.
Co-ordinator PC Lee Featherstone said: "Crimebeat supports numerous activities throughout the year ranging from angling competitions to anti-bullying campaigns.
"Being selected also recognises the good work and dedication of the young people involved."
