TWO amateur artists, who are next-door neighbours, are joining forces to stage the first public exhibition of their work.
Mary Fishburn, a retired headteacher, and Caroline Hudson, a mother of two schoolchildren, have lived in adjoining houses in Westfields, Richmond, North Yorkshire, for eight years.
They are putting their work on display at the Castle Gallery, in Witham Hall, Barnard Castle, for a fortnight, following a preview evening on Friday, October 5.
Ms Fishburn specialises in large landscapes, using mixed media on canvas and board. Ms Hudson works mainly on ceramics, including tile hangings and decorative bowls and pots.
Ms Fishburn, who recently completed a degree in fine art, said: "Caroline and I have been friends and neighbours for a long time, both working on different forms of art.
"We both wanted to stage an exhibition of our work, and are delighted to be able to do it together in such a nice gallery. We hope people enjoy our efforts."
