COUNCILLORS have agreed to sell about ten acres of land to a parish council.
Durham County Council's cabinet committee meeting yesterday decided to declare the land at Pittington as being surplus to requirement.
It comprises three plots at Littletown and Pittington Reclamation Scheme.
The parish council has expressed a wish to acquire the open space and allotments to ensure a more direct local management.
In a report to the cabinet meeting, acting director of corporate services Lesley Davies said the land was outside the village boundary and would therefore not be suitable for development.
