RUNNERS snaked round a landmark lake as part of a now annual 10k challenge for athletes of all ages.
The picturesque setting of Hardwick Park provided an attractive backdrop in sunny conditions at the 12th Serpentine Run, in Sedgefield.
A total of 172 runners took part, many attached to local clubs, but the field also included four participants from Sedgefield’s twin German town of Hamminkeln.
The German quartet included the eventual winners in veteran V70 and V50 categories, who came in behind the overall male and female winners, Tristan Learoyd, unaffiliated to any club, and Molly Smith, of Vegan Runners, who finished in 37 minutes and 13 seconds, and 45.17, respectively.
Organisers Mark and Beth Raine, of Sedgefield Harriers, overseeing the event for the first time, thanked the town’s cricket club for use of start and end facilities.
