DRINKERS were raising a glass today at the first day of the 28th annual Rhythm n Brews Beer Festival.
Among them were a group of Belgian beer connoisseurs at the three-day event in Darlington Arts Centre.
It is a joint celebration of live rhythm n blues music and real ale.
More than 50 ales, ciders, perry and imported bottled beer were for sale over the bars.
Entertainment was provided by band The Revolutionaries.
The festivities continue until Saturday. Bands will include Ray Stubbs R n B Allstars and The Roach Twins Band.
A free music festival in the town's market square and nearby pubs will follow on Sunday.
Tomorrow's afternoon session, from noon until 4pm is free entry. Entry is £5 in the evening, from 7pm until 11.30pm.
Saturday's early opening is from 11.30am until 5pm and the final session will run from 7pm until 11.30pm, with tickets costing £3.50.
Campaign for Real Ale and European Beer Consumers Union members will receive £1 off tickets.
