A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy was taken to hospital after he suffered a head wound in a collision at an accident blackspot.
The child was one of five people in two cars, which collided on the A68, near Burtree Inn, on the outskirts of Darlington on Wednesday at 6.35pm.
Two ambulances and a fire appliance from Darlington were sent to the incident.
A 27-year-old female driver and a 25-year-old female passenger were in a Ford Focus, as well as the five-year-old boy.
The boy was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with a cut to his head. One of the women was also taken to hospital with back injuries and a suspected broken arm.
Neither were seriously injured.
A 33-year-old man and 33-year-old female driver in the other car, a Vauxhall Vectra, were treated at the scene.
All five people were freed from their cars before fire personnel arrived.
The crews remained at the incident to make the cars and scene safe.
The stretch of road along the A68 at its junction with Burtree Lane is a notorious accident blackspot, with several deaths and serious injuries in the past two years.
