A HOUSING association has celebrated the 1,000th new affordable home it has provided.
Broadacres was established in Northallerton in 1993, when the group took over Hambleton District Council's housing stock.
The 1,000th home is part of the £4m Valley Road development, where 47 new homes for rent and shared ownership have been provided for local people.
Broadacres celebrated by holding a Caribbean-themed family fun day, with beach games, bouncy castles and slides.
Spokesman Rob Brittain said, "We celebrated this major development milestone with the new residents of Valley Road.
"Since the association's housing stock transferred from Hambleton District Council, we have provided 1,000 affordable new homes, which is a wonderful achievement.
"But it does not stop here. We recognise that there is still a huge need for affordable homes in the area.
"The needs of our communities are changing and it is our role, as an affordable housing provider, to adapt our business to meet demand by offering a range of tenures to suit different aspirations.
"The scheme on Valley Road is an example of this, with homes to rent and for sale."
