FIRE risk checks are being carried out on foster carers' homes.
The free inspections can result in carers receiving free smoke alarms, replacement deep-fat fryers and new electric blankets.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service teamed up with the county council to provide the checks, which are available to all households.
Ian Bitcon, head of community risk at the fire service, said: "Children and young people are at particular risk when it comes to fire."
Information on the checks is available from the fire safety advice line, 01609-788545, or from www.north yorksfire.gov.uk
