NEW pupils at a Yarm secondary school marked the latest stage in their education by planting daffodil bulbs in the school grounds.
The 224 newcomers to Conyers School planted the bulbs to provide a lasting reminder of stepping up to secondary school.
By the time they leave Conyers, the flowers will have multiplied to present a blaze of colour each spring.
Loiuse Spellman, the school's deputy headteacher, said: "We thought this was a lovely idea for our new students and, hopefully, by the time they leave us, the flowers will increase and be there to remind the young people of their earliest days in our school."
