Cyclists are being offered the chance to make sure their bikes are in top condition and have them security marked to help deter thieves.
People in the Osmotherley area are being urged to go to a bike clinic in the village hall next Monday, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Residents - along with those from Thimbleby, Ellerbeck and Snilesworth - can get free cycle checks and postcode marking thanks to a joint project by the local neighbourhood policing team and Cowleys Cycles, of Northallerton.
Hambleton Community Safety Partnership has supplied a marking kit, which will be used to etch identification on to bikes, making them more traceable if stolen.
Cowleys will be putting the bikes through a free health check - looking at everything from worn-out tyres to brakes. Some repairs will be carried out at the time once a quote has been agreed.
Mechanics can also take bikes to the Northallerton workshop for repairs and return them to Osmotherley within days.
