VANDALS damaged cars in two Teesdale villages over the weekend.
In Gainford, the lock on a Honda Jazz, parked near Eden Crest, was damaged overnight on Sunday.
Sergeant Steve Steen, from Barnard Castle police, said: "We don't know if someone was trying to break in to steal something from the car or to steal the car itself, fortunately they failed."
Aerials were stolen from two cars parked outside the fish and chip shop, on Front Street, in Cockfield, between 12.30am and 1.30am on Saturday.
Sgt Steen said: "This might be a prank, but until we get to the bottom if it, we have to treat it as a theft."
