A HOLIDAYMAKER is seriously ill in hospital after he fell from a balcony window.

Glen Crosby, 24, is out of intensive care, but nursing broken bones after the accident in clubbers' paradise San Antonio, Ibiza.

The Foreign Office last night said the British Consulate in Spain had been helping Mr Crosby's parents, who have flown to Ibiza to be with him.

A spokeswoman said it was not known when Mr Crosby, from Middlesbrough, would return home.

It is believed he travelled to the Spanish island more than a week ago with a large group of friends, who have now returned to England.

Mr Crosby fell from the first-floor balcony on Thursday night. He is believed to have broken his arms and jaw, and fractured an eye socket and numerous ribs.

The Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We are not aware of a police investigation and we do not believe anyone else was involved.

"We will be making sure that if there is any information or help we can give to the family to assist them while they are still in Ibiza, then we will do that. We will be trying to support them."

A witness from Teesside, who was staying in Ibiza but did not travel with Mr Crosby's group, said: "There were some lads walking past when he fell about 10ft away from them and a lass screamed.

"An English nurse who was on holiday ran over and gave him first aid with an English policeman, who was also on holiday.

"They were making sure he did not move in case he had spinal injuries and looked after him while the emergency services were called.

"You just hope that the lad is all right and makes a good recovery. He was with his mates and they were really shaken."

Messages of support for Mr Crosby have been posted on the Middlesbrough Football Club fans' website -www. boronation.com
