and had a battle on to gain the upper hand. Both sides had chances until mom Luke Lancaster struck the bar and Max Craggs poked home. This settled the amber army and with Jordan Hallet, Tom Blakemore and Patrick Thompson in command at the back, they took control of the game adding further goals from Stevie Gardiner, his 1st for his new club and David Roth sealed it 5 minutes from time.
Norton's U11B's much anticipated first game of the 2007/08 season saw Kader FC travel to Norton. Unsure what Kader had to offer, Norton started the game tentatively and allowed Kader to attack. Norton conceded a penalty in the first 5 minutes when a Kader player's heels were clipped just inside the box. The resulting penalty saw Norton's keeper Tony Coleby parry the shot only for it to fall to the attacker who slotted the ball home. This spurred Norton into life and from the restart Norton pushed the ball around controlling the game. Striker Danny Watson's first goal of the day came when Jamie Graham played a weighted ball behind the defenders with Danny running onto it. Danny took control and beat the Kader keeper with a sublime lob. From the restart, Norton soon added to the score line when Tom Wing broke through the defence and struck at goal. The Kader keeper saved and the ball fell to Danny Watson on the edge of the box who coolly slotted the ball home. Great work from Norton's defence of Callum Musgrove, Lucas Connor, Oliver Crisp and Joshua Nertney saw Kader's chances kept to half chances. Norton added another goal when in the middle Sam McNiff fed the ball to David Cooper who dinked the ball over the Kader defence. Again Danny Watson surged through, lobbing the keeper again getting his hat trick and Norton's third of the game. This took the game to half time. Norton kicked off the second half and continued where they had left off stroking the ball around with ease. Great team play made it very difficult for Kader to get any grasp on the game and Norton added a fourth goal when a tireless Tom Wing received the ball high up the field. Tom took control, held onto the ball and played a superb ball to Jordan Ormerod who shaped the ball into the bottom right corner with ease. Norton then seemed to let Kader into the game and Kader were soon a goal better off taking the score to 4-2. Norton played well but Kader found another gear and managed to get to 4-3 when a goal line scramble saw the ball creep over the line. This in turn made Norton step things up holding Kader in their own half. Kader did break into the Norton half and won a corner. From the corner, the ball was played in. Lucas Connor cleared the ball to Danny Watson who turned with the ball and surged into Kader's half of the pitch. A good tackle by a Kader player saw Danny momentarily lose the ball but his determination saw him win the ball back and continue his run surging towards the keeper. Danny poked the ball home to rapturous applause from the Norton players and parents taking the score line to 5-3 and sealing the win a fantastic team performance everyone putting in 110%.
Norton U11A's travelled to Brinkburn for the first game of the new season and found themselves a goal down after 5 minutes. Norton stormed back into the game creating numerous chances only to be thwarted by the Brinkburn keeper. Sonni Coleman and Harvey Swann both saw shots hit the crossbar. The second half was much the same as Norton attacked Coleman hit the bar again before Brinkburn counter attacked well to go two up. This did not stop Norton and they threw everything forward in the final ten minutes but a Coleman goal seconds from time was scant reward for there endeavours. Best for Norton were Aaron Thompson and Ben Kemp.
NASA U15's new look line up went behind to a break away goal which was miles offside and despite creating lots of opportunities found it difficult to break down a strong Spraire Lads outfit. Tom Booth equalised just before half time when he charged down a clearance. Second half was practically one way traffic with NASA creating and missing chance after chance until John Allison put in Tom Booth who finished neatly. Andy Martin had to be smart off his line to stop Spraire grabbing an undeserved equaliser as the game somehow finished 2-1. Jamie Jewson was outstanding at the back, Ben Turner was bright, Tom Booth did well and on another day would have grabbed a bagful. Final Score. Spraire Lads 1 V Norton & Stockton Ancients U15's 2 NSA U9A's played their first league game of the season at Leven. Both teams started well creating chances and displaying a very good standard of football. Norton were first to score with a goal from James Cartwright. Leven's keeper then saw a lot of the action making two good saves from shots by Josh Birtle. Norton's second goal started from the back after their keeper Lewis McDonald made a fine save from a Leven attack. The ball was played out well from the back with excellent passing football and Harry Savage ended the move with a great goal. Norton's 3rd goal followed quickly with their Man of the Match Josh Birtle scoring.
The second half saw Leven come out more determined and scoring two goals and creating further chances to equalise forcing some good defending and saves from Norton's defence. Norton attacked to see the remaining time out comfortably. Leven 2 - Norton & Stockton Ancients 3.
