SESSIONS on how to trace a village's history will be held in Wensleydale from the beginning of next month.

Four one-day Saturday workshops are planned, with indoor lectures, from 10am to noon, followed by field visits, from 2pm to 5pm.

The course is organised by the Upper Dales Workers' Education Authority and led by historian Steve Moorhouse.

Sessions will be held at Wensley on October 6, Carperby on October 20, West Burton on October 27 and Thornton Rust on November 3.

The cost is £50 for all four sessions, and £45 for concessions, but it is possible to enrol for the first two or last two sessions at half of the full fee.
