THE premiere of a film made by media students using a £2,000 lottery grant took place yesterday.
1989 Film Productions, which is made up of students from Bede College, Billingham, has produced a 20-minute film called Cut.
It is a horror comedy about a group of students who find themselves trapped by a mystery assailant.
Cut was filmed at a disused factory in Greatham, and the premiere was held at Stockton Arc.
Director Ben Wheatley, 18, said the group applied for a Lottery grant so they could make the film outside of college.
He said: "It took about four months to make and 27 people were involved in it. We were really pleased to get the funding, it is a lot of money for a small film so we did everything properly.
"It is our sheer passion for films that made us want to do it, and we are really pleased with how it turned out. It was a long process to get the funding and complete the film but it was worth it.
"We are all going off to university and we hope to go into films when we leave."
