A GROUP that organises activities for retired people in the Durham area is on the lookout for new members.
The University of the Third Age, or U3A, is open to all who no longer work and who wish to keep their minds and bodies active.
The Durham club meets on the second Thursday of the month, at 1.30pm for 2pm, at Durham Indoor Bowling Club, Pity Me.
Up to 100 members take part in a varied programme of speakers covering topics such as music, art, history, magic and travel.
There are many special interest groups, organised by members, which include walking, literature, French, German, poetry, Chinese civilisation and pub lunches.
New members are welcome and can turn up at meetings, or ring membership secretary Joy Fallon, on 0191-386-8775, for further details.
* The lecture scheduled for Thursday, Tommy Tippler on The Other Side of the Tape, will take place the following day, at the usual time
